Field Trial: Improved Grower Returns on Chickpeas

Three field trials on FBSciences products in Australia in 2009 demonstrated excellent improvements in rooting, nodulation and on yield for chick peas. Three FBSciences products were tested, each showing strong yield increases and excellent grower returns.

• CARBON BOOST-S INCREASED YIELDS 22% WITH $182 PER HECTARE HIGHER PROFITS
• KAFE-F INCREASED YIELDS 55% WITH $465 PER HECTARE HIGHER PROFITS
• ZICRON-F INCREASED YIELDS 19.5% WITH $173 PER HECTARE HIGHER PROFITS 

RESULTS
Data from these studies showed that Carbon Boost increased root mass, nodulation and overall nitrogen production (see picture). These improvements in plant health resulted in dramatically higher yields. Applications of Kafe-F or Zicron-F at early bloom improved chlorophyll formation and lead to both an increase in the number of peas per plant AND an average increase in the size of the peas.

APPLICATION AND FIELD INFO:
The Carbon Boost-S trial was conducted at Darling Downs, Qld. The product was applied at planting with innoculant or with the fertiliser, liquid injected. Tests with Zicron-F and Kafe-F were conducted at Gunnedah, NSW. Foliar applications of Zicron-F and Kafe-F were made at early to mid flowering.
